Stage 5: How should you compare total cost and negotiate the agreement?

Compare twelve-month operating cost for the evidenced catalogue, not the subscription price divided by an advertised game count.

There are genuinely different price structures to investigate. At this review, Slots Launch’s public monthly plans list US$10–115 with allowances ranging from 1,000 to 35,000 game-load requests; First Look Games advertises free publisher access. These are specific public offers, not market averages or complete integration budgets. (slotslaunch.com)

Twelve-month cost checklist

  • [ ] Setup, implementation and migration.
  • [ ] Subscription, minimum commitments and usage charges.
  • [ ] Hosting, monitoring and support not included in the offer.
  • [ ] Internal engineering, rights administration and editorial maintenance.
  • [ ] Relevant legal, privacy and testing work.
  • [ ] Parallel running during a migration.
  • [ ] Contractual exit charges and a separately labelled withdrawal scenario.

Ask suppliers to define chargeable events. Clarify how retries, failed loads, testing, bots, multiple domains and overages are treated. Do not assume an API request, page view and game launch are the same billing unit.

Which comparison metrics should you use?

Use these proposed management measures together:

  • Must-have coverage: approved launch-critical titles divided by the required launch-critical titles.
  • Monthly cost per usable game: recurring supplier and operating cost divided by the relevant, authorised, live games for that month.
  • Annual cost per usable game-month: twelve-month total cost divided by the sum of monthly usable-game counts.
  • Operating burden: measured staff hours, incidents and unresolved support tickets.

Do not calculate a reassuring unit cost when eligibility is unknown. Keep breadth, editorial importance and operating effort visible rather than hiding them in one ranking.

Contract and continuity checklist

  • [ ] Confirm which agreement and schedules control if sales materials conflict.
  • [ ] Define support hours, severity levels, escalation and response commitments.
  • [ ] Request notice of API, authentication, territorial and material catalogue changes.
  • [ ] Agree how withdrawal of essential titles affects commitments, cancellation or credits.
  • [ ] Clarify metadata export, retained records and asset removal after termination.
  • [ ] Identify upstream dependencies and proposed alternatives for essential content.
  • [ ] Test the ability to disable a supplier without rebuilding editorial pages.
  • [ ] Avoid paying for a full rollout before the agreed acceptance gates are met.

Stage output: an approved cost model, negotiated obligations and a documented exit plan.
